For those looking to move out of the rat-race of London into new homes,Kent is an ideal choice. With its high speed commuter rail links into London from towns such as Ashford, Sevenoaks and Maidstone, Kent is the ideal commuter location. Far enough out of the city to be able to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, but close enough to be able to get into the city in approximately 40 minutes if using the train. For those preferring the comfort of their own vehicle, the M25 orbital provides easy access to London or other UK motorways.
Its not only London that can be reached in rapid time. No other English county offers you the opportunity to have breakfast in one's home then be in France for lunchtime. The new Ebbsfleet International station provides easy access to Paris and Brussels using the Eurostar service.
Kent offers a blend of countryside and sea with towns such as Margate, Sandwich and Whitstable popular family home locations due to their seaside aesthetic. Margate, like its neighbour Ramsgate was historically a holiday destination for Victorian Londoners and retains its Victorian charm to this day with large houses and cultural attractions such as the second smallest theatre in the country - the Tom Thumb. It is currently experiencing rapid regeneration using artists like Tracy Emin to raise the town's profile.
Whitstable, located in northeast Kent is known as the ''pearl of Kent'' and is famous for its oysters. Whitstable is popular with tourists and families alike due to its natural beauty and amenities. Like Whitstable, Sandwich is a historic town, containing many medieval buildings and hosting two world class golf courses - Royal St George's and Prince's which have both held the Open Championships.
As well as seaside towns, Kent offers stunning countryside and a plethora of quintessential English villages - all within easy reach of transport links and towns. Notable villages include Eynsford, Smarden and Wilmington where one can live surrounded by the English countryside and enjoy a range of activities from walking, cycling, horse-riding and the obligatory cream tea consuming.
If all that relaxing gives you the need for some adrenalin junkie action, Brands Hatch is located near Sevenoads, hosting a leg of the FIA British Touring Car Series, truck racing, motorbike racing and even track days should you wish to have a blast.
All these attractions make Kent an ideal base from which to live and work. Whilst Kent holds a multitude of Victorian and period properties, there are a variety of new homes for sale in Kent. A new home is a great idea if you wish to start from scratch and stamp your own identity on a property. Many developers now give you the opportunity to pick your own kitchen or bathroom fittings as your house is being constructed, meaning that once the house is finished it is ready to move into and doesn't require any fixtures or fittings. As well as being ready to move into, new homes offer much greater energy efficiency and can lower your carbon footprint. In an age where the 'green' is at the top of many government agendas, it is useful to choose a new home with better insulation and more efficient appliances.
As with the diversity of the county, new homes are available in an assortment of locations including countryside, seaside and more urban locations. This allows an individual to purchase a tailor made home in a location to suit them. As such, new homes remain a practicable and contemporary choice.
